John deere 4020 problems.
Jul 13, 2015 · The super 4020 title was a very accurate on for them. 18.4x38 tires are probably the most common size for them. The power difference between them and a 4020 is very noticeable. Without a turbo a 4020 will usually smoke very heavy once you push it to around 110 hp. With the turbo the 4320 can push up near 150 with very little difficulty.
#1. I have an early 4020 and I just put an overhaul kit in the brake valve. I put everything back together following my JD service manual. Then I bleed the brakes. Now the brakes are totally locked up. The tractor won't move. But if I open the bleed screws, it will move. probably needs the injection pump rebuilt. Likely. caused by the governor weight assembly flex ring. breaking apart. Being exposed to the fuel, heat and. time it becomes hard and starts breaking to pieces. The pieces float around in the pump and get lodged in. to the wrong places and cause this kind of symptom. Let us see if others confirm.

Make sure the surfaces are clean and I roughed them up with some really coarse sandpaper so that the JB weld had something to bite. I have had them on for 6 months and so far so good. C. The ignition switch on my 64 model 4020 has a white ceramic resistor built on the rear of the ignition switch. You would see a white ceramic tube like thing sticking out the rear of the switch. The 1.5 ohm coil needs aprox a 1.5 ohm ignition ballast resistor placed between it and the 12V power supply. If your ignition switch has the resistor ...
Hello all, Have a problem with my 4020. This past summer - if the tractor sat for more than 2-3 days...it wouldnt start. At the time - was a 24v system. 1st thing I did was replace the battery's - 2 brand new JD 12v's. Seemed to help for awhile - but not long and was back to not starting...The John Deere 4020 may experience problems regarding the hydraulic, clutch, steering, powershift, and PTO mechanisms. Worn-out, damaged, and loose components and linkages are the majority of reasons for the problems.But the 4020, 4230, etc. use large-frame starters the larger starter-solenoid can sometimes draw - or surge close to 20 amps. When hooked directly to a standard ignition switch or push-button - that gets a little worn - it can cause a problem. Using the extra relay in-between takes the load off the ignition switch.Member. If it's a side console tractor it can be in the PTO valve. 4-Plate on the bottom of the rockshaft housing is cracked or loose. 5-possibly an internal leak in the main pump, but not likely. 40/20vision. Following up on the dim generator light issue on my 1964 4020 diesel, open station tractor from last night. After doing some more checking, it became obvious that there still had to be a resistor in the circuit of the generator light.Aug 1, 2012 · Total for the rebuild was $700 but was still cheaper than buying a reman brake valve, at least according to the local JD dealer anyway. Good News....the original brake valve was rebuildable. It solved the entire problem and it stops great. No more wheel lock up. The JD 4020 is now ready to go back to work. Key take away is "long time" you have some reserve between oil returning from something, cooler and reservoir. The time is the big difference between a problem or not.
